Hello lovely ladies....
I would really like everyones thoughts, opinions or guidance when selecting a costume. Next March is our troupes first big event. We are excited and well sort of nervous. One of our members is doing a solo, and wanted to purchase a fancier cabaret costume. She is very unsure of fitting into one. This is the one she has fallen in love with. outfit.isisexchange.com/gorgeous-...p-425.html
Her build is a wider hips base, giggly middle, and no chest (42 A). Isis Exchange makes them to your size which is great. But when ya spend that kind of money, you really want to make sure it's flattering on you. So I'd love to gather advice to share with my dance sister. She is a great dancer and her solo piece will be even more spectacular in a glitzy outfit.isisexchange.com/gorgeous-...p-425.html

Re: opinions or guidance
Thu, November 29, 2007 - 11:49 AMAs a word of warning- if I were her, I would be putting my order in ASAP! I know how long they can take, as someone I know ordered from them, and they were waiting for a long time.
Its very pretty, but I know nothing about what looks good on people- so the only advice I can give is above.

Re: opinions or guidance
Thu, November 29, 2007 - 12:04 PMFunny you ask......I saw a lovely dancer recently in a gorgeous blue dress similar to this one. She was very tall, a large woman with very small breast. Her body is not proportionate. Sounds like your fella troupe member has the same probably (although maybe not height). I really think that a dress like this is going to draw attention to the differences in the size of her body. It is going to make her look even smaller on the top. There are things she can do to balance the look. If she is set on this dress, then I would recommend that she add some wide sleeves to balance the top to the hips. What I mean is not just straight gaunlets, but poufier sleeves or sleeves that have a band of fabric with a drape on the bottom - L.Rose Designs website has options on sleeves you can purchase.
You want to have a proportionate look, so wherever it is that you are lacking or having too much of, you want to balance it out. Just like if you were top heavy and had straight hips, you would want to wear a fuller skirt to balance the look.
Hope this helps. -

Fri, November 30, 2007 - 2:32 AMWow! more folk like me! Cool!
I'm almost a B cup, with a 2X butt. The assumption amongst most clothes and costume maker is that anyone my size msut be boobylicious.

Re: opinions or guidance
Fri, November 30, 2007 - 10:09 AMI just wanted to say I LOVE the phrase "giggly middle". I'm going to use it from now on! I can't offer any costuming advice, I have issues just getting dressed in the morning...:-)

Re: opinions or guidance
Tue, March 11, 2008 - 11:04 PMthought I'd share a follow up on the nightmare of ordering a custom made outfit. through ISIS Exchange
My dance sister provided every measurement, requested, and even some that were not. All seemed to be going good...when the costume arrived (on time) everyone was excited to see it on. She was in awe of the workmanship, it looked just like the photo.....vivid blue color, and nice beading too. She ducked of to try it on, and from the room we hear...oh crap! To start the zipper popped apart, it was not made to her measurements it was about 2 sizes to small, even worse however was the overall length.
It was proportioned for someone with a longer torso. If she placed the thigh slit where it should be, the hard cups rested at her chin, and a breast could be seen in the mesh cut out! hmmmm not to flattering, needless to say.......if she wore it with her chest in place it drug on the ground.....so can't really dance like that?
Being an optimist, she hoped that they would make things right. They did not apology for making it incorrectly, which is poor costumer service if ya ask me!! but a deal was worked work, and she decided to purchase a bra and belt set instead. They promised to delver the replacement by March 5th which would be in time for our event. Here it is the 11th and she'll be dancing in stuff thrown together......not the sparklely blue outfit, or the second choice bra/belt set. How disappointing, and not once did ISIS exchange say I'm sorry.............so buyer beware, stay away from ISIS exchange!!! -
