Where can I find a size 20-22 ghawazee coat pattern, and what kinds of fabrics (including appropriate designs) are usually used? I can sew fairly well enough myself, so I am not looking to buy pre-made. All I am looking for are patterns and fabrics so I can make one on my own. Thanks for your help!

Re: where to find patterns/choosing fabric
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 6:16 PMIf you don't mind making your own pattern, I'd recommend: www.geocities.com/tala571/ghawazee.html As far as fabrics go, solids or stripes are the preferred designs/patterns and I've found that cottons and brocades are the preferred fabrics. Some people prefer the stiffer fabrics (I do), some people prefer the softer, more nimble ones. -

Re: where to find patterns/choosing fabric
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 7:54 PMI really like the pattern I got from bdpatterns. (see pics in my profile)

Some of the pages/links don't load correctly, but one thing I really liked was that you essentially create that pattern to your own body measurements.
Good luck!

Wed, May 21, 2008 - 2:32 PMMadame X has a great pattern too. It also will need adjustments though.
It acomidates almost every size =)
But the one that Bellatrix posted rocks! -

Re: where to find patterns/choosing fabric
Thu, May 22, 2008 - 2:14 PMI went to the site that Bellatrix posted and was very happy - the instructions were simple, pictures were clear, etc. I then found some awesome striped fabric, heavier weight cotton fabric, the kind that isn't exactly upholstery fabric, but still the kind you might use for home furnishings, like maybe pillows or something. It's *exactly* the kind of fabric weight I wanted.
If it continues to be this easy, I may have to make a few more!
