what are you ladies liking in yoga pants these days?
someone on this tribe suggested the foldover yoga pants from victoria's secret about a year ago, and i loved them, but now they're about twice as much. i'm looking for something hopefully in the $20 range, without too much flair or flare, and ample booty coverage. any suggestions?

Re: yoga pants for big gals
Sun, February 8, 2009 - 9:02 PMI found some comfy, covering ones at Fred Meyer. Not glam, but great for workouts. I use Geisha Moths and Melodias for performance.

Re: yoga pants for big gals
Mon, February 9, 2009 - 1:42 PMI recently bought some plus-sized (size 20 - XXL) yoga pants for about $5 on clearance at Target. Mildly low rise (maybe 1 -2 inches below my navel) but not extremely low sliding-off-your-butt rise. They had a variety of colors but I went with black primarily because I dance American Tribal Style so it seems like everything has some black in it. LOL.

Re: yoga pants for big gals
Wed, February 11, 2009 - 3:18 PMI purchased some "slouchy" pants from target in a XXL.......they were 9 bucks on clearance I think....they have a foldover waist that I like. There is a guy on Ebay I purchased some "palazzo" pants from last year that were 19.99, they had a foldover waist as well. I think its called Hot Miami Styles, anyway, they were inexpensive and I've worn the hell out of them, they are very comfortable, especially in the hot southern summers. He has sizes up to 3 X........I've gotten some boot cut leggings from Newport News here lately that were less than 20 bucks.....you gotta watch for their sales (they have basically the same stuff as Spiegel), they have women's sizes to 3X as well. Their out there......just gotta hunt!!

Thu, February 12, 2009 - 8:49 AMMy pants are made from 4 way stretch cotton lycra in whatever colors I can get my hands on. (I order mine from online)
And I usualy charge $75 for em. Kinda expensive, but they are sooo comfy! (and I make room for the butt!)
I'm so glad that you love your pantaloons! I wore one of my pairs to class last night, and felt soo good in them. I've been wearing yucky slouchy pants lately...
I dance better if I feel like I look better =0 -

Re: yoga pants for big gals
Wed, February 18, 2009 - 12:13 PMDid you draw your own pattern? I've been looking for a decent yoga pants pattern in all the usual places (McCall's, Simplicity, etc.) but I haven't found one that's both in my size (about 48 inch hips) and not made to sit at your natural waist. I'd love to know about it if you've run across a decent pattern... :) -

Re: yoga pants for big gals
Fri, February 27, 2009 - 10:17 AMYes Angie, I draw my own pattern.
I also draw the patterns for everyone that orders from me =)
its super rewarding!
I recomend modifying the pattern to fit your body shape.
Measure your front and rear rise (seperately) and cut the pattern from there,
I'm trying to think of a better way to describe it... but my brain quit working a few days ago... LOL

Re: yoga pants for big gals
Sun, March 8, 2009 - 9:16 AMI have sewn for years but never dared ask the question..lol..I know you sew for a living but how exactly do you measure the front and back separately? sorry for such a dumb question. I guess I am not sure where the front ends and the back starts. I have seen some directions where you sit on a chair and measure the rise..but..not sure I am making my question clear..still have to find some trusting friends to wrap me in duct tape to make a form..some that will cut me out..lol
