Its a work in progress. I'm working on the first BBTBD Meet-Up that will hopefully happen next year. I'm a little skinny (skinny lol) on details as of yet as to where it will be but it will happen. This is open for discussion as to what people would like to have in this meet. We will have workshops with some of our big beautiful bellydancer, performances, vending( is very possible still working on that) and a last night banquet send off with free dance.
If you have any request I would love to hear them and i will see what i can do.
Is this something we are ready for? Who would love to join us in a few days of fun and sisterhood. (Men big beautiful bellydancers welcome too.)
P.S. If your willing to teach a workshop let me know. I'm trying to get diffrent workshops togeather in my book.
Thank you,
J.

  • This will in the mid-west. Wisconsin. It is a lot easier for me to work and l move around here. I will be spending my summer going around to resorts here looking around for space and good deals for prices. As I told you its a work in progress but its going so far so good.
P.S. This is not only for tribal bellydancers. Caberet and other styles are most welcome. Its for all big beautiful bellydancers.
What type of workshops would you like to have and what type of vending?
    • Oh yay! I live in MN so WI is definitely doable.

Costuming is always a good workshop idea. Some BBBDs are completely comfortable with their bodies so much that they are willing to show their bodies while they dance, but others may not be as comfy and are looking for costuming tricks to camiflogue (sp?) their midriffs, upper arms, thighs, etc.

But not all workshops should be BBBD based. As dancers, we all have common questions that have nothing to do with our size. Ideas for make-up, hair, jewelry

Also, perhaps there could be panel discussions. BBBD-based discussions could be separated - yes we all have experiences to share, but with limited time there's only so much that can be done or discussed, and keeping panels focused will help get the most "bang for the buck". For example, if you want to have a panel about BBBD discrimination in the dance arena (such as teachers or restaurants who discriminate against us), then keep the discussion based on that topic only. If you face discrimination/problems with the family/friends/co-workers because of the type of dance we do, that could be a separate panel.

Can you tell I'm eager? Woo hoo!
